The Meditation Lake hike is an easy, short hike through what starts as an aspen dominated forest and transitions to a jack pine mixed wood forest and finally to a campground in a Red Pine plantation that was planted back in 1957. Algae blooms may occur on the lake in the heat of summer due to no water in or out flow. Portage your canoe down the trail for access to back country campsite along Meditation Lake or a short portage over to Horseshoe Lake, which also has back country campsites. A number of archaeological sites are present around Horseshoe Lake, including petroforms, so be sure to explore with respect and care.
